The customs and culture of any nation are embodied in clothing. The traditional clothing of Japan wafuku is extremely beautiful and conveys the spirit of this country.

Kimono

The kimono is a traditional garment of Japan and is a long robe with wide sleeves, which is tied at the waist with an obi belt. There are numerous straps and cords on the kimono. The difference between women’s kimono and men’s is that the robe of a Japanese woman consists of 12 parts, and it is almost impossible to put it on by yourself. A man’s kimono, on the other hand, is simpler, made of five elements and with short sleeves.

At first glance it seems strange: where are watches, and where are environmental problems, where is the threat of irreversible pollution of the planet?! A wristwatch is so small, can it do any harm to the environment comparable to the impact of modern energy, mining and manufacturing industries, transportation?
True, the watches themselves are, in general, quite clean, their work is in no way connected with the toxic emissions into the atmosphere, their production is concentrated in relatively small factories, if not in artisanal type workshops. The volume of materials that could be “blamed” for the creation of watches (metals, polymers) is not comparable with that of the automobile industry, for example…
And yet each year the global watch industry, especially luxury brands, increasingly turns its face to the theme of ecology. By promoting their achievements in this field, the watchmaking top brands, on the one hand, contribute to the preservation of our world and, on the other hand, perhaps more importantly, quite loudly draw attention to environmental issues.
Watch brands contribute to the preservation and improvement of the Earth’s nature and climate in various ways. Let’s take a look at some of them.

• Rings made in the form of a weave. There are many kinds of them. The most popular compositions are the knitting of thin rings, chains and weaving, resembling a braid of ribbons. Such rings are expensive, but look very interesting and stylish.

It is as if one very wide ring with a pattern was made first and then sawed along – it symbolizes the unity of the spouses. A pair of rings with an image in the form of a heart, a fingerprint or a tree is very popular. And the image can be made to order, which will make your ring individual.

At the age of 19 he became a pupil and an assistant of Christian Dior, at 21 he headed the Fashion House of Christian Dior, and at 26 he founded his own brand Yves Saint Laurent. What are the main achievements of Yves? The famous clothes designer erased the boundaries between men’s and women’s closet, dressing the beautiful half of humanity in a tuxedo with straight cut pants. In 1966 he created a collection that became the starting point of the safari style. Fashionable women all over the world appreciated jackets with patch pockets, wide belts and dresses with laces. Yves Saint Laurent popularized leather jackets and introduced high boots into the women’s closet. He united the world of art and fashion by creating dresses of fabrics with abstract paintings.

Before using a wristwatch, you should carefully read the manufacturer’s instructions since each model may require special care. For example, an unusual mechanical wristwatch requires winding by first removing it from the wrist. As for quartz watches, they require the battery to be replaced from time to time by a special workshop. Even if your watch is no longer in use, it is worth having a watchmaker take the battery out, as it may leak over time.

It is also worth checking your designer wristwatch periodically at a service center. For mechanical chronometers, you can get by with an inspection every 3 to 4 years, but quartz watches require even more infrequent tests. This is necessary to adjust the accuracy of the movement, lubricate and clean it. It is important to understand that any amateurism here does not make sense and can lead to a decrease in water resistance, as well as the loss of warranty. The strap/bracelet also requires attention, and the leather strap may be easily replaced with a new one, and the steel bracelet may be simply polished. 

You should not change the calendar if the time on the watch is between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., which may cause the movement to malfunction. During this period, the movement automatically adjusts the date and may become jammed. You should not press the “reset” button while the watch is running because that can also damage the movement. You must stop it first and then reset it.

In the legendary atelier on Rue Cambon, the staff addressed her as “Mademoiselle”, friends called the playful young lady Coco, but Gabrielle is her true personality, elegant and very passionate, without admixes or pretense. Perfumer Olivier Polge conveyed it masterfully. 

Work on the bottle took several months – the result is a unique flask, whose square silhouette is, at the same time, an identifiable shape of the previous Chanel fragrances. Translucent bottle has a silver and gold color simultaneously – an unusual shade masters “copied” from the fabrics of haute couture collections. Actress and longtime friend of the brand Kristen Stewart became the face of the fragrance.

Some eminent designers of the world’s high fashion in recent years are increasingly using natural chocolate to create their unusual collections. In their opinion, such outfits, shoes and jewelry perfectly complement almost any image.

The dresses the models wore were made of fabric. But all the decor – fanciful flowers, butterflies and lace with the finest details – was chocolate.

The details of the outfit were finished and glued just before they went on the catwalk. Designer Vincent Guerle says the hardest part was making sure the chocolate didn’t melt and break.

“The main difficulty of a dress with chocolate is temperature, because chocolate melts from body temperature. You need some kind of fabric or veil. You also have to keep an eye on the temperature in the room. And another problem is the fragility of the chocolate itself”, notes the master.

Such shows are held at the Paris Chocolate Fair for the 26th time. Last year, the pandemic prevented its conduct. That’s why they decided to call the show a renaissance in honor of the recovery of life after COVID-19. The dresses can’t be worn again after the show, because they are used only for advertising of the confectioner’s shop. But the decorations can be enjoyed by everyone at the fair.

The appearance, personal life and brilliant career of the designer and film director Tom Ford tell a different story: betting on flawlessness and hitting the jackpot is possible. Every success, however, has a price. Ford himself admits that he “may indeed be prone to obsessions.” But then adds: “The pursuit of perfection has served me well.” And indeed: by all appearances, Tom Ford’s perfectionism in no way hints at morbidity. We see the ideal image, but the process of achieving the ideal is left out of the picture.

Gucci Fall/Winter ’95

This collection was Tom’s debut for the Italian house. The sky blue satin blouse that Kate Moss wore on the runway remains a glamour fashion icon today.
